About us
The Hope Foundation began in 1995 with a small group of 4 volunteers. The aim was, and still is, to make a difference in the local community; to listen to what local people need and to try and meet that need. Our mission is to help build a safe and strong community in which local people play an active role.
Our constantly evolving services and response to this need means that today The Hope Foundation
- owns its own premises thanks to Big Lottery Funding
- employs 17 local people
- provides numerous opportunities for volunteering, apprenticeships and Work Placements
What we do
The Hope Foundation provides a number of services, learning opportunities and undertakes projects in the community outside of Hope House.
These services have been developed by and with local people and local and national partners.
We currently work with learndirect and Middlesbrough Community Learning Services to deliver learning programmes and qualifications and with The National Careers Service to deliver Information, Advice and Guidance to help people improve their employability and find work with the support of our Work Club.
We have an excellent track record in delivering projects with UK Online as one of our key objectives is to make IT accessible to local people. We have a Cyber Cafe where people are able to access the internet and free online courses about using IT and also IT courses from absolute beginner level through to ECDL ITQ2 – the standard often demanded by employers.
We pride ourselves on the highly personal services we offer to local people. Ofsted commended our commitment to Equality of Opportunity; recognising that everyone is set challenging but attainable targets and supported to achieve them, whatever their background or needs. We hold Matrix and Investors in People quality standards.
You can see some stories of learners on the website.
And we have our own cafe serving food, snacks and hot drinks during our opening hours.
